Earlier this week, our Rayen Tigers had the unique opportunity to combine fitness, fun, and education during a special field trip to Top Golf, organized by our dedicated Physical Education teacher, Mr. Kosek. This exciting experience allowed students to engage in a non-traditional physical activity while meeting important Ohio Physical Education Standards.

Mr. Kosek, known for his creative approach to student engagement and wellness, carefully aligned this field trip to Ohio’s Physical Education Standards, particularly Standard 3: “Students demonstrate knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.” By learning the basic techniques of golf—such as grip, stance, swing, and aim—our scholars applied movement concepts and developed motor skills in a real-world setting.

Additionally, the trip supported Standard 5: “Students recognize the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.” Scholars worked in teams, encouraging one another, tracking their scores, and celebrating each other's progress. The environment at Top Golf provided a perfect space for students to experience the joy and challenge of a new activity while practicing communication and sportsmanship.

"Top Golf was the perfect mix of movement and motivation," said Mr. Kosek. "Not only did students get to learn about golf, but they also had a chance to bond, build confidence, and explore a new way to stay active."

The field trip was a hit with students, many of whom had never played golf before. One student shared, “I didn’t think I’d like golf, but it was actually really fun! I learned how to hold the club and swing the right way. Plus, hitting the targets was awesome!”

Rayen Early College Middle School continues to seek out innovative and engaging ways to support student growth both in and outside the classroom. Thanks to Mr. Kosek’s vision and dedication, our students were able to experience an unforgettable day that combined learning, fitness, and fun—all while aligning to the educational standards that guide their success.

Way to go, Tigers—and a big thank you to Mr. Kosek for driving student success with such creativity and care!
